About pedal Pals

Let’s ride bikes together!

West Virginia Pedal Pals is a free, family-friendly, community based cycling group for anyone and everyone who loves to explore the beautiful state of West Virginia on two wheels. We are based in Charleston, West Virginia, but we travel on routes around the state from time to time, too.

All abilities and experience levels are welcome! No matter your skills, you’ll be sure to find a ride to fill your lungs with fresh mountain air and your soul with cycling camaraderie. Whether we are on a casual hangout on our bikes or discovering hidden gems on a mural bike tour, with West Virginia Pedal Pals we are always forging friendships to last a lifetime. Hope you can join us on our next ride soon!

Rides hosted by West Virginia Pedal Pals are B.Y.O.B. (Bring Your Own Bike) and please don’t forget your helmet!

About Sam

Over five years ago, Sam moved to West Virginia from Florida after falling in love with the natural beauty of the mountains and kindness of the people.

During the pandemic, Sam started cycling as a way to stay active and enjoy the outdoors. After hosting a Public Art Mural Bike Tour during FestivALL, Sam created West Virginia Pedal Pals in August 2023 as a space where all are welcome to ride their bikes and explore the history, art, and culture of the community together.

When Sam isn't exploring the Mountain State, hosting bike tours with West Virginia Pedal Pals, or taking a spin class at the YMCA, she remains active in her local community through volunteering. She has a B.S. in Psychology and a B.A. in Media/Communication Studies from Florida State University and lives in West Virginia’s capital city of Charleston with her dog, Georgia.
